Goodbye Spangle

_____________________________________________________________

 Spangle,
one of my first three seramas and my only silkied serama died. I don't
know what happened. I just found her. It looked like she fell of the
roost. She was also one of my favorites and my tamest hen.

Here she is:

House training and more harness training

_____________________________________________________________
 I
have been working more on harness training. I still have been following
him around. He doesn't like any kind of treat, so I can't figure out
how to get him to follow me yet.

Buckeye harness

Here he is again. Sorry for the messy background.

 I
have also been working on house training him. First I am clicker
training. I click a clicker, then give him a treat. Over and over again
until when I click, he knows whats coming. I just have to give him his
normal food though because he is so picky.

Harness training chickens

_____________________________________________________________

I
got started harness training one of my little 6 week old roosters
Saturday. First I got an adjustable cat harness from Petco(
http://www.petco.com/product/2059/Four-Paws-Safety-Cat-Leash-and-Harness...
), as someone recommended. I started by putting Buckeye on the couch
and setting the harness down without making a big deal out of it. Then
I gradually started rubbing his feet with it. Then his wings. Then his
back. Then his head. Then I put the head piece on and let him walk
around and get used to it. After 3 10 minute sessions of that over 2
days, I put it all the way on and had him eat his favorite treat to
distract him. After he had finished, he hunched up and looked
uncomfortable. After about an hour of doing his normal perching on my
shoulder, he acted completely normal. He spent another 2 hours perching
on my shoulder and having me follow him around on leash. Here is a
picture of him on harness:
